Interactive Octopus Tentacle

Our sim-to-real actuation research lets soft, continuum robots train across millions of iterations in simulation before acting in the physical world, including the extreme settings we build for, such as octopus-arm orbital servicing.

How it works

    Click and drag any of the 4 glowing colored points. Each tentacle tracks its correspondingly colored target in real-time.

  • Watch it learn

    Numerical gradient descent continually adjusts the tentacle's joints to minimize the distance to the target.
